So on my birth certificate it shows my father's last name as my last name i.e. Lopez and my mother's last name as my second last name i.e. Gomez . I'm assuming that's the same for everyone born in Mexico right? Well I only put my actual last name on my application because I don't use my second/mother's last name. Did everyone else do it the same way?

Not hispanic, but I have two last names. My father's surname I don't use. I go by my shortened name and I used that in the application. My birth certificate shows my shortened name, only my passport shows my father's surname. So yeah...

I'm cool on everything.

Where it says legal name write both of your parents name for example...Ethel May Potter Mertz and where it says other names used write Ethel Mertz.

Nope. Didn't do that. Already sent in my application. I want my EAD with my shortened name. Your official name is going to have all four names on your ID and it will be on all official documents thereafter.

Official legal name will be my shortened name and my father's surname is the one that was under "other names used."

I'm justified since I have copies of my birth certificate that ONLY shows my shortened name. It doesn't even bother listing my father's surname next to it. I already had an EAD/Social Sec # with my shortened name with an Alien #.

My passport only has two names only. Hell, my other passport has my shortened name. I'm straight, lol.

Or USCIS could play me and give me all four names. THAT would suck.

I already sent mine too and I want mine with my shortened name too. That's what I've used all my life except for my birth certificate.
