My boyfriends' lawyer want the money order payable to USCIS... we have told her repeatedly that people are sending the money to US dpt of homeland security (That's what I did)
This whole thing makes me really nervous and not comfortable about her. Am I just paranoid?

Tell him to learn to read it's plain and simple in the instructions.

Right? you would think she knows... She also doesnt want to file form g-1145 and the question that ask how you came to the country, instead of writing "entry without inspection" she put "no lawful status"

Has anyone heard this?

Regardless, her saying that the money order should say "USCIS" tells you right off the bat she hasn't read the instructions.

Tell him to print out the part from the website that talks about the check/money order, hand it to her, and ask if there's a reason why she insists to write "USCIS", and it makes him nervous to have someone that hasn't read that portion of the instructions file their application.

RED FLAG!!! Get another lawyer that knows what they're doing.

If your lawyer cannot follow simple instructions on how to send a money order, then it's pretty obvious what you should do. If your case isn't complicated, never fear. DAP is here.

It's her money so I don't have much say in all this (much to my dismay) I made this post so my bf can see that I'm not crazy, and we should follow my gut in regards of the lawyer. He's the only one who can talk to his mom...

Wow. That attorney obviously does not know what she's doing. Have your BF read the the part in the instructions where it states who to make the check or money order payable to, to his mom. Plus, $1,500?! Is it a basic filing? If it is, then, that is a ridiculous amount.

We are supposed to meet with her on Monday (hopefully) because as of today, she's out of the country, so the only communication that we had with her was through emails. She seems so unprofessional...
I told BF mom she should have save her money and do it ourselves, but she told me I didn't know as much as this so called lawyer
