So my appointment was next week at 9 am; I figured if I showed up around the same time it wouldn't be an issue. Turns out I did have an issue...

When I got there at 9 the guard was like, "do you have your passport or birth certificate?" and I was like, "no I thought I only needed a state issued ID"; then he was like, "step to the side for moment" while he took my id and my receipt. As I'm waiting I look around and see a ton of people waiting inside and a line was slowly building behind me as the guard walked off and gave my information to someone. When he came back I'm thinking, "Yes! I can get through" turns out he lets everyone behind me go ahead of me instead. This whole time I'm just thinking, "this is great, they're only worried about my id and not that I'm here a week early"; trying to stay positive.

After 5-10 minutes of waiting for the guard to tell me something, he walks off and disappears. Then a totally different guard takes his spot. So I immediately tell him my situation and ask, "even though it will take me forever to get back here, do I need to come back with my passport?", he then says, "nope, because you're going to jail!!" .... j/k he didn't say that instead he said, "no, because you used an out of state ID it will take us a few more minutes to verify its authenticity". True to his word, I was in line for my biometrics 5 minutes later. I had 26 people ahead of me, so it took 26 minutes until they got to me.

So all in all, walk with one or all of the following:
  • Passport
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • State Issued ID

That's great Alex; now hopefully we just have to wait a week or two before hearing back from USCIS

No. Because your college is not a government and your college ID does not have your birth date on it.

Exactly. I offered to use my school id when they asked for my passport but they said they would only accept school id if you are 15
