On June 15th, Henry was taking a shower when a group of detainees turned off all the lights in the shower, threatened him with a blade, and proceeded to sexually assault him. In shock and fear, Henry returned to his room but the pain got to be too much to bear so he went to report the assault to the guards. Henry was cuffed and taken to the North Broward Medical Center to assess his injuries. The hospital staff confirmed that he had been sexually molested. Henry is deeply traumatized, humiliated, and is having suicidal thoughts. He needs to be released immediately.

Henry has been in detention since March 23, 2012. ICE arrested him outside of a Mexican grocery store on a Friday night. The agents had told Henry that one of his co-workers at a factory had tipped them off. He was transported to Broward Transitional Center and then transferred to Krome Detention Center.

Henry is originally from Honduras and has been living in the U.S. for 12 years. He is the main breadwinner for his family, which includes his 2 year old daughter and 9 year old son. Henry’s son suffers from asthma since a very young age and requires frequent hospitalization and medicine. If deported, Henry will be separated from his two U.S. citizen children who will be traumatized by their father’s deportation.

According to the memo issued by John Morton, Henry is a low-priority deportation and should be released and granted favorable exercise of prosecutorial discretion. Henry has been living in the United States since 2000 and has two U.S. citizen children. Henry has already suffered enough while in detention after being sexually assaulted by detainees. He needs to seek therapy outside of detention as he is having suicidal thoughts after the traumatizing experience.

I call for the immediate release of Henry Yanez Arias from Krome North Service Processing Center and urge ICE to stop his deportation.

well that's what happens when immigration detention centers throw in criminals and innocent DREAMers like us in the same area.

I swear those people that did to him are the reason why undocumented immigrants get such a bad rap.

Deport them all and brand them "PIGS"

This angers as well as saddens me that this had to happen to him, NOBODY deserves this to happen to them.
