I just got the form Form I-797C in the mail. It has my biometrics appointment date on it. Was I supposed to receive a different letter before this one or not? I am confused. ... Anyways the appointment is for early next month but I will try a walk in next week!

We have no idea the timeline of your case hence we can only make assumptions that might or might not be right.
Is this the first correspondence you've received?

What do you mean? I got a text message last Friday and today I got in the mail the form I-797C, Notice of Action. It has my biometrics appointment date for early October. Were we supposed to receive a letter before this one?

I thought I was supposed to receive a different letter before that. People seem to be getting two letters... I do not know.

I read somewhere that some people received their I-797C and their biometrics appointment in one single receipt (I have also received them in one receipt). Others got their I-797C receipt first, and a few days later their biometrics appointment letter. I honestly don't know what it depends on, perhaps it depends on their service centers. Nevertheless, I don't think it ultimately matters.
