So i work for a plant but in order to get hired in the company i need to have proper documentation because they do E-verify. Luckily thanks to God they have let me stay there and work as a (temp) temporary worker while i get my work permit. When i talked to the person in charge of human resources she told me that i dont need to wait to get my social security and work permit thing. All i need is this number that USCIS sends. So i went back to my lawyer and asked what she was talking about. So it turns out that its called the "A" number. Today i recieved my Letter of notice that they have recieved my payment. Along with it they said that the "A" number i needed is there. It is the USCIS ALIEN NUMBER. So my question is does anybody know if this is the number i need so i can potentially get hired. The lady from human resources said this is all i need so she can run it through the E-verify system and see if my case shows up or something.. and if so, i can immediately get hired, while my other paper work comes through. Anybody know about this? thanks

If they run it through E-Verify you'll get a Negative result.
You need to be granted Authorization for your A# to show you're Authorized to Work.

I dont see how it will hurt to try. It doesn't seem as though she is trying to set u up. If it comes back and says u dont have authority to work then u would just be back where u started. If they say ur alien number is fine just to show ur in the system then just go with what they say. I dont think they have any reason to lie to u. What are they gonna do? Call ICE and tell them ur undocumented. Lol

Once your case is approved, you can try to E-Verify right away, and it will show you're authorized without an EAD, that is correct, but not a second sooner.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed because I THINK all she wants to know is that i am not lying about getting my work permit and have proof that i am already IN PROCESS of getting my work permit. dude once i get hired there i'll be set so im really hoping i get hired with this A number thing.

this is my understanding: technically speaking u working there its a big "NO" for them according to the law. so a lot of times a place to cover their behind will try to get as much information they can from u..in this case that u have applied for work permit, so if anything negatives comes up at least they can say hey we have this number he provided us. I know it sounds abnormal

So ItsKdC. I don't understand where you say 'I dont see how it will hurt to try.

Once a TNC comes back this is the hurt he can expect.

E-Verify does not return 'Hello. The applicant has a Case with Us. Thanxxx'
Its 'Yes Authorized to Work' or 'Cannot Verify' and please see my above post.
