Hi guys,

I know that DACA does not allow us to join the military...

However, there is this program called MAVNI that allows immigrants with EAD or Student Visa, etc apply for the military. I talked to the recruiter and he told me to come in after I get my EAD and he'll look further to see if it's possible.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a possible route to military for DACA approved people?

Just did a google search and found this. I guess it's something that just started back up again. The post lists some non-immigrant categories but I don't know what we are considered. Here's the link:
http://www.mavni.info/content.php?14...y-reopened!!!&

Maybe we might be able to join. I only skimmed through the post and it does say that you have to have your status for at least 2 years and it also refers to it as "legal status" which USCIS has told us that we are not... So I guess you would have to research further. But if that recruiter really wants to sign you up I'm sure he'll find a way.

DACAs are not currently eligible for MAVNI. "Deferred action" is NOT one of the MAVNI statuses. MAVNI also requires that a person have had a legal status (one of the approved MAVNI ones, such as F-1, E-2, U, TPS, asylee, etc.) for two years at the time of enlistment. Again, "deferred action" is not one of the authorized MAVNI statuses. If you are a DACA and you want to enlist, write a letter to the President. He can change the Pentagon policy banning DACAs from enlisting if he wants. So send him a letter.

Hey you guys, there arent too many people in this same situation but i believe we can do something that will allow us to enlist in the military. I went to a recruiters office passed the assessment ASAVB and met all the criteria. Although i came as baby i have no status here. My dad could of fixed papers for me but he walked out on me which was my only option to obtain a status. But any way the recruiters told me that i could join if i atleast got an Alien number so i tried thru the daca act but they needed the one for registering for residency. I was approved for the daca but really i want to take part in world policies againt terror and threats. In order for me to make this happen and whatever reason you were born to contribute within the military we have to get the ball rolling with those in the government that will allow this.

The u.s. will benifit from us
i have been in the country longer than some soldiers that are enlisted but these boundaries need to open for us so that we can do what we were born to do.

Where do you guys live so that we can meet or something
