Well Cubans have an easier time getting refuge status since their country is classify as hostile, and they stand as a symbol of an oppressive communist government going against western capitalistic democratic ideas.

No Cubans have no idea what it's like to be in other immigrants' shoes. Not only that, they brag about coming here legally when they justify their views against Amnesty or even the Dream Act.

Case in point, the Republican US Senate nominee Ted Cruz. His real name is Rafael Edward Cruz, but he goes by Ted. He is a rising "Latino" star of the Republican party and the Tea Party and spoke at the Republican Convention. During the run-off against David Dewhurst (Texas Lut. Governor, Rick Perry's #2) many of his ads were about how tough he was on illegals.

More than likely he will win because well, it's Texas, but the Democratic opponent Paul Sadler is going right at him. This was their first debate a couple of days ago:

http://www.wfaa.com/news/politics/de...172394111.html

Sadler is a big proponent of the Dream Act and in the debate, Cruz kept going back to the old "we need to secure the borders" as his plan to deal with the 11 million undocumented. When pressed, he said "we need to punish businesses who hire illegals and that will take care of the issue" - or something to that effect.

Keep in mind, Ted Cruz benefited from his father being allowed to come to the US (check the wiki page for the details...Cruz was born in Canada). Did he just come here or get a visa? I don't know, but I'm guessing it was easy in the 50's for everybody to come here and after Castro took over, pretty much a stamp for Cubans.

The point is that Cruz would not be here, if the same policies that exist now for non-Cubans existed when his grandfather came to the US and yet, he is against providing other immigrants a pathway to residency.

And . . . the Ted Cruz bashing as well. Cruz comes across as more inflexible than Rubio.
