Well, since I got approved recently, I am starting to wonder about the DL process.

Has anyone who has been approved in Texas applied for a DL? If so can you answer a couple of my questions?

1. If you are 23 can you receive a learners permit so you can practice driving? What is the process if so?

2. Do you still need to take a learner's course if you are over 21?

3. About how long will the process take to get an actual DL?

I know the information is on the DPS website, but it doesn't really clearly state the process for people may not have received a DL before the age of 18 like people normally do.

If you are over 18 all you have to do is take and pass the written test to get your permit, you will have 3 months to go back to dps office and take the driving test, once you pass it theyll give you a receipt looking peace of paper thats your license until the actual plastic license comes in the mail, about 2 weeks later.

Actually if you're under the age of 25 then you have to take adult drivers ed. If you take it online then you don't have to take the written test at the DPS. All you have to do is take your completion certificate and they should give you your permit on the spot.

I just got done taking adult driver's ed course online. If you're between ages of 18 and 25, you must take a mandatory 6-hour adult driver's ed course. I recommend you talk to your local driving school for more information. I just took my permit test online, and now I'm waiting for them to send me the certification of completion. After I get that, and my SSN, I'm going straight to the DPS office and get my learner's permit. And then take some in-car driving lessons and then off to take the driving exam and get my license

You don't need anything when you take the course online. I haven't been approved yet but I already have my certificate of completion so I can get my permit ASAP. There are like 3-4 sites you can take drivers Ed that exempts you from the written test. The website I used was idrivesafely but you'll have to google adult driver's ed idrivesafely to get to the site.
