I am an accounting major and my political views lean more towards a liberals.

However, I've always thought that Corporate America is hardcore conservative and I wonder if it would affect me being a liberal accountant? (Although accountants are supposed to be "neutral" but still....)

I've already started hearing things that I don't like/agree to from people I looked up as "mentors". It's kinda hard to explain but I lost a little confidence in those certain people. So what do any of you think. Will you be going into a field where the majority seems to lean the other way?

Science degree. Chemistry if it matters.

Im a social liberal and economic moderate. Its important to distinguish between economic and social liberties. Unless youre talking about Liberals or Classical Liberals.

Too often people group themselves with democrats because they are the most visible social liberals. I suggest looking into other ideologies and parties. They have very good ideas.

Oh and people will always have differing political viewpoints. That doesnt mean you cant be friends with them or you cant ask them for help.

IMO thats a huge problem today. Historically the US has been a place where discussion between differing ideas has led to some creative solutions to social problems. Today its just pointing fingers and disregarding others' viewpoints.

Keep an open mind but express your opinion.

If you're good enough at what you do, firms won't care if your liberal or conservative. That's water-cooler discussion.

I have friends who are conservative like let's say around 80-90% conservatives. They're pretty cool people. So yea I guess it won't be bad at all. It's just a different opinion that should not interfere with what's truly important...getting the job done. I'm excited to start working I can't wait to get into university and get an internship! My goal is to become a forensic accountant and work with the FBI. I remember when I was younger I wanted to be an FBI agent....lol

if I had to choose between liberal and conservative, I consider myself liberal but I don't agree with everything that liberals believe in.

1. I am not for tax cuts for the rich.
2. I am for raising tax for the rich, keeping the tax rate the way it is for the rest of America.
3. pro-choice
4. for gun control.
5. I am not for legalizing marijuana. (which don't put me in the same category as liberal)
6. I am not for death penalty (only because it cost so god damn much. otherwise i am for death penalty)
7. I am for the original obamacare (not the watered down version that we have now)
8. I am for legalizing the undocumented who's already here and securing the border
9. I am not for raising the minimum wage (another factor that doesn't put me in the same category as liberal)
10. I am not for bail-fucking-outs.
11. I am for getting our troops out of middle east
12. I am for getting the money out of politics.
- criminalize political donation as bribery.
13. I am not for censorship in internet

Yea see that's why I need to find a better term to define my political views since I'm not hard core liberal. Now the bail outs were supposed to be so millions of people would not lose their jobs and so the country would not end up in a depression. However, those companies were not regulated and they could have done something like (stop giving themselves bonuses yes AGI I am referring to you!). As far as anything else goes I'd rather not comment. lol Wait except for pro-life/pro-choice I'm torn between the two.

Btw Americans complain about their tax rates but compared to the world it isn't really that high.
