Everyone with a valid EAD, please do not worry about E-Verify. I thought I could help clear this up.

Let's say you've applied for a job, got the offer, and your in. You happily gave the employer everything they need for the I-9 form, which would be your SSN + EAD and an ID (if for some reason the employer is nitpicky and doesn't take the EAD as ID also) and now they run you through E-Verify...

All of the sudden:

"(Insert your E-verify flagged ass's name here), can you come in here for a moment? I need to talk to you about something on E-Verify" (They would probably pull you aside in private if they have any common courtesy.)

If this does happen, you'll most likely be talked to by HR and they'll say something like "something isn't registering right, please check your full name is spelled correctly and make sure your SSN is correct." After that, they'll make you read about 3 pages worth of stuff concerning how e-verify works and why yours might have come back negative. At the very bottom of the page there are two choices, either the red pill or the blue pill.

Nah, I'm just kidding.

But this is where the power of your EAD comes in since you are LEGITIMATELY, and UNDENIABLY authorized to work by the POWER VESTED in the UNITED STATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! (Whew, let me take a breather here..)

One of the two choices are to contest the error (which is what you WILL do), which would make you go down to the local SSA office to personally verify your elegibilty to work and bring something back to HR confirming such information. You will have 10 days to complete this action.

The second choice is decline to contest, which pretty much means you acknowledge the information and choose to do nothing about it. It also comes with the breif warning that choosing not to contest gives the employer full power to terminate your employment (which they 99% most likely will) on the sole basis that e-verify was unable to.. well.. verify you. This option would most likely be for people that either do not believe in the system, or just have nothing to fight with.

One important thing to keep in mind: Should e-verify come back with a problem, choosing "do not contest" does not admit that you are an illegal immigrant. All it means is that the information you provided does not seem to register and respond with valid work authorization.

All in all, do not be afraid of E-Verify when you have all the tools necessary to dismantle it. In fact, welcome the challenge.
