I have a situation please help

I'm helping a friend fill out the app and he said he came in the country on a school trip from Mexico in 1999 but doesn't remember being inspected.. What kind of entrance is this?? Should we just put EWI

he might have had one of those pass they give out to mexican. anyhow if nothing can be found out, EWI is fine

Yeah he was picked up by his uncle ad he stayed here since 1999 he was 13 years old...

What kind of pass? Because he was attending school in Mexico at that time. What are those passes called?

Now he's freaking out and doesnt want to apply! Omg! The pass was never given to him he has no visa or passport.. Idk what should I do?

He was in school on Mexico I guess he had to have some kind of permit to enter the US but this was back in 1999...
