Yes you may. SSA offices aren't Immigration nor there are immigration agents.

I'm a minor as well, only 17 years of age, and I feel as if this would cause trouble, as well. My parents each a social security, and valid government ID's, but I don't know how it will work. Do the applications require them to fill out some information about them on it?

The application just asks for their name and Social Security Numbers.

There is no interview, unless you consider the 2-3 questions an interview.

On a side note, why is there no dedicated SSN thread? I think it would help a lot of people if there was one.

If it helps...

http://dreamact.info/forum/showthread.php?t=33168

You just need a VALID ( as in not expired) ID or your birth certificate and your EAD card.

Suggestions: (they are not requirements as far as I know)

Print this: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/deferred_action.pdf and take it with you.
Bring at least one parent with a valid ID.

You should have no trouble at all applying.

BTW: as far as I understand, providing your parents socials is just so they can make sure that you haven't been assigned a social before. You should not worry at all if your parents don't have socials.

Thats what i was wanting to know about. I don't think my parents have an sort of valid I.D, but i didn't read anywhere that a parent needs to show I.D.

I have a few questions. My nephew just got his EAD he's 15 and his dad is nowhere in the picture and we have no idea of his information. His mom doesn't have ID. I can't take him as his uncle either because i'm waiting for my EAD approved. His grandfather could take him... as he has ID and has general English knowledge. We don't know how to fill out the form.

Does it matter if we fill out his father's name on the form? There's no way that we could get a hold of this person if he needed to sign anything in the future.

Under Item 18.... Should we check "Other" and write "Family" if his grandfather ends up taking him?

Do we need to show ID if we take him to apply?

Has anyone gotten his/hers SSN with only a birth certificate and an EAD? I've read mixed stories that some people were turned away when their passport was expired.

Thanks for any help on this matter.
