Hi.
Nice to meet you all!
I am a new member here.
I just sent my DACA application last Friday..
I haven't gotten any text message or email yet so I'm getting kind of nervous.
How long did it take for you guys to get your text?

Did most of you guys hire a lawyer?
I did..
Most of lawyers wanted like 1000dollars and some even wanted 2000dollars(including application fees) so I was really frustrated because all they do is literally just telling me if my evidence is sufficient and I didn't think they worth that much..
But finally, I found a lawyer who only charged 400 dollars and she was such a sweetheart! She was so helpful.

She said I was the perfect candidate for DACA because of my good grades and I came here with a visa and things like that.
But I'm just afraid I'll be one of those unlucky ones that USCIS decide to deny.... I really want to get my work permit before May.. do you think that's possible?

You could have done the DACA application yourself. Anyhow, your approval should come in within 3 months.

A lawyer was not necessary if you had all your evidence meeting all the requirements.

Welcome! As others have stated, a lawyer is not necessary. If grades were a factor, I would never be approved...

I paid a lawyer $40 dollars, just so I can get a second opinion. Go to established community organizations, not private lawyers next time. Unless of-course you have Bank. I would bet you get the email/text tomorrow morning.

i sent mine on 10/23 and didn't get my email till yesterday, 10/31. I was stressing everyday, everyhour checking for texts or emails! lol. It was weird i only got the email and not the text but i guess same thing has happened to other people. Yeah i payed $800 for my lawyer kinda regretting it now after seeing how many peope did it on their own but i did have a minor misdemeanor so i figured i would get one to hopefully help my case. and if approved you will for sure get it by may! They say 4-6months but rea lly i think it will take 3 months max.

I also had a misdemeanor, and on top of that I had been in removal proceedings too.
I guess I knew my stuff, since I had been fighting this case for almost 2 years.
