I'm wondering what you're planning on doing? I'm at a standstill. I like where I work and I'm making decent money ($16.50/hr). If I just go in there and show them my new ss they're going to want to see my EAD (if they don't fire me on the spot for lying on my application which I filed w a fake ss).

Also if Romney wins and if for some miracle they don't fire me, in 2 yrs they're going to be asking for my new EAD. As far as I'm informed, Romney is not going to continue with DACA?...

What are your guys' plans with that?

One last thing, I want a car from the dealership but I have no credit w my new ss. How will you build up ur credit?

As far as your job situation, I would consult with an Immigration attorney. Good luck with everything, though!

As far a building credit, start with a secured credit card. Ask your bank if they offer one, or open a credit card at a department, or clothing, store, like Macy's, JC Penny, GAP, etc. Use it ONLY to build credit. Charge a small amount every month, and pay it off in full by the due date. After a year of good maintenance, you should start building good credit.

I've asked this on another thread but this situation applies to me too, i was offered a promotion at my current job and i explained to my boss my situation and she told me that i can just file a form to the corporation to have my SS# changed... My question is though.... Isn't that a bad thing to do? To connect my old fake SS# to my new one? Thanks to anyone who can help me out with this..

I also have a desent job .. Im hired through a agency with a different name. They have always ask me to be hired through the company but I always said not now. I don't know if I'm going to let them know my situation and how will they take it. Or just find another job.

I currently have a nice job with decent pay too (for a non college graduate)...so I dont plan on switching jobs yet, or showing my boss my EAD...because he knows my situation and pays everybody as an indep. contractor, so it would make no difference.

I guess I'll hold off any decision until they anounce the next president. If Romney wins, I don't know what my next step will be.

As for getting credit. I tried for a jcpenny card and I was denied. I also went to my bank which I've had for over 10 years and they told me I'd know by Monday. Which is another way of saying no....

They probably will just turn a blind eye and ask no further questions. Just make sure you do not go in there with a paragraph explanation. If you decide to do it, just tell them you have a new ssn and you wish to fill out the paperwork to make the changes effective. The less you say the less you place liability on them that they hired someone not authorized to work.

This is a tough one. I also make decent pay for a person that only has High school diploma. I'm over paid since I only work on average 2hrs on an 8hr work day. I love it here and don't want to leave unless I get another job being out of the office or part time w/my same pay. I'm also scared to show them my EAD (when I get it). I've agreed with my husband that I'm only going to ask for a new W2 and just tell them that I have a new SS# and CA DL. If they do ask why I'll be honest and pray that they don't fire me.

I love this idea! This sounds like something I can try also.
