My idea to reform immigration.

Give amnesty to all undocumented/unlawful in this country
cancel the DV lottery and employer based green cards for the next ten years
fine people depending on number of years they were illegally here
crack down hard on the border and inside the country

So you think that people who got here last year should pay less than people who have been here 20+ years?

Nope, wont work. House Repubs will vote it down totally and call it amnesty

But it is amnesty and both side need to compromise right now. Most likely democrats will give up on the tax code to avoid the fiscal cliff and in return republicans might give up on immigration......Hopefully.

There is going to need to be a cut off date for entrance. Perhaps greater than 5 years-10 years. So 2002-2007. Evidence for that presence. Good moral character. Etc.

I disagree with that. Someone who has been here for decades, payed taxes, learned English, made a life here shouldn't be in the same category as someone who just got here.

There should be a minimum of 10 years living in the U.S. for Amnesty if it will have a chance to pass.
