Has anyone updated school records with new social?

So, here goes:
When I applied for PCC in 2000 at the age of 18, I used a social that was not mine - it is/was my little brothers. I'm kinda weary of going to update it, since i'm not looking forward to explaining my situation.It scares me because i checked the [citizen] box when i realized that they didn't ask for any supporting documents. I was in school sporadically for 9 years since I had to hold a full-time job, take the bus, study, workout, have some kinda life, and eventually started a business with my Domestic Partner. I never used financial aid and i was a damn good student, but...it is what it is. Fact of the matter is that I just wanted to "fit in" and go to school just like everyone else. I continued to do so under this lie.

This was 12+ years ago, and i was naive . In retrospect, maybe it was a dumb move, but I couldn't stand not going to school.

Now, here I am - knowing that i can finally make a clean life for myself. Now I can have a future. Now i can look forward, and step into tomorrow with out the feeling of hesitation.

I'm sure other people have it worse, and its not enough to call the "WAHMBULANCE" but it's something i wanna take care of sooner rather than later.

Has anyone gone to update their info? Would it be best to just start over? I know that the CA Dream act will probably help with leeway, but I really wanna know of people's current experience.

as I stated a fake social when applying and now im actually getting a real one.
Should i just say I got a new social due to personal reasons? Lol

I updated my school info today but I did not use a fake social. When I applied I just told them I didn't have one. Today, when I went to update it I was just asked for my student ID and my ss card. No questions what so ever. I'm not sure if that would be the same case for every school, though.

Well ill give it a shot tomorrow and see how it goes.

Do they need a social in the system?

Well I had put one when I applied and it shows on my transcripts.
In which I want my new one on there so my new job can see it when they review my
school records.

My school issued me an 800 number just for school purposes. I just took my ID, and ss card like another poster said. They just photocopy it, and done. As for using a fake one, I would think it would be the same process and outcome.

I just remembered that we do need to because of what the ab 540 affidavit said.

I've been stressing so much about this because I used my ITIN in place of my social 10 years ago when I entered college. Knowing that others have done similar things and got approved brings a sigh of relief. Though for me the application I submitted didn't ask if I was a citizen which I always felt was odd. So I never claimed to be a citizen but it's been in the back of my mind this whole time as I wait for approval. Congrats to you guys BTW!!

Honestly, I wouldn't even mind starting over. I just don't want it to be such a big deal that they expel me from campus, or sum SH!t
