So I get a call from mcdonalds at 10 30 pm and they left a voicemail saying that I had to report at 10 am for an orientation. I want the job, but I can't go tomorrow. I'm going out of state for the weekend. What should I tell them? Any advice?

That's pretty short notice! Give them a call first thing tomorrow morning and explain to them that you are interested, however under the circumstances, you can't attend and if they can reschedule it! And congrats!

Congrats on landing a job! But have you worked in fast food before? I've been working almost 4 years at the same place and I wish I could have gotten a much better job in terms of workload and pay. Why don't you try being a cashier? Working in retail? Something a little less demanding (yes, I'm tired). I've worked as hostess, selling credit cards, retail, and muti-use employee at my current job which is a pizzeria. I can tell you that if I had to choose which one of those to keep I would have chosen retail where I could quietly and happily put up my merchandise and not deal with all the extra drama. I hope it all works out for you.

I'm assuming its their first job. Many places require at least SOME type of experience, whether it'd be customer service, cash handling, etc. It's a great starter job, and also an experience of what you DON''T want to be doing for the rest of your life and a little push to achieve your goals.

Lol. Yeah I applied for retail and better restaurants and the only place that called me back was McDonald's. I'm sure the other places didn't consider my app because of my lack of experience. So yes, im doing fast food first to get experience because they hire anybody.
