One day?

I feel bad because a lot of my choices in the last four years since college have been made because of my immigration status, my job, and everything else.

I think some of my friendships have suffered because of this, but I've been wondering if it's best to one day just come out and say what I've been through so they understand my position better, you know?

Well the most important people know already so sure if you feel confident go ahead. Honestly, I tell people who truly matter because they see why my life is the way it is or why I have to do things a bit differently.

It took a while for me to tell my closest friends, but I have close friends that I would like to share to but not sure how they'd react. You know? Like people I've known for 8 years and more and have kept in touch with, but I think they think I'm flaky when it's really about my immigration situation.

I also became quite reclusive after graduating college, and lost contact with most people that I knew. I don't see the need to talk about my experiences being undocumented with past friends since we sadly haven't kept in touch. I've decided to move forward and hopefully make new friends, it's definitely time for a new beginning for me. I will only tell my experience to a future spouse and children because I truly believe that our stories need to be told, as it shows perseverance, resolve and how your life can change for the better with a simple act of courage and kindness as Pres. Obama did, as well as the kindness of those that have compassion for us.

This is me. Ever since I've gotten approved, things have become so much more real. I just want to move forward and tie up all the loose ends.

It's never too late to reach out and reach back to your friends. I miss a lot of them and I can't wait to just jump right into life again, you know? I just don't know because I feel so NERVOUS now!

If the Dream Act passes, I think I'll come out to my friends (when I have my job of course). But I think I will tell those people that I cared about from college and what not.

I refuse to feel ashamed. I think my nervousness comes from the fear of rejection, not really sure about their reaction, etc. But I feel like I'll be ok.

I wish you all the best with your decision to tell your friends at some point about your experience being Undocumented, I hope that your friends will be accepting and supportive. I've learned from personal experience that some friendships should be left alone when you drift apart, sometimes people are supportive, sometimes they're not; sometimes they're initially supportive and then they drift even further apart (I've had these experiences). For me, I'd rather just move on with my life and meet new people. I will only share my story with a future spouse and kids as I said, but I am more than willing to share it with someone that has had rough times and that feels discouraged, I feel like my experience has helped me learn that things do get better, and I can use my story in encouraging someone going through struggles....

Yea I understand. The very first person I told without them having to tell me first about was very i guess you could say scary because I didn't know how'd she react but it wasn't soo bad at all. After that I've come out to others and it really isn't a big deal. No one has been rude but they have asked a lot of questions and offer their support and best wishes. I won't say that will be the same for everyone because it all depends on what kind of people we are dealing with but at the same time you should already have an idea on where they stand. Either way I wish you the best of luck and all of us dreamers could always be friends!
