A few weeks ago Hurricane Sandy occured in the East Coast so I was out there doing my job ( as a Paramedic ) . Well I volunteer since I have no SSN just yet to actually use in order to get paid . Now Im in the back of the ambuelance taking the old lady's vital signs that just lost her home to the storm but the drive was a little long so I was making conversation with her and asking is she had any family in the state.
So later on

She asked how old I was ?

I told her I was 18 (which Iam )

and she was like "my granddaughter should of found someone like you ... Not like that illegal mexican of a boyfriend ... God how I hate those criminals coming to our country and do nothing good " - The lady

I guess she thought cause I have a white skin tone and Iam European ... I couldn't be illegal ...

It made me sick to my stomach on how stereotypical people can be...

The funny thing is he probably wasn't even illegal she just talking out of her ass

Has this happened to anyone else not fitting in with what people think Illegals do or look like ?

Maybe in a couple years people like her will let go of all the hate they have in their hearts...its sad. Then again, I don't blame people like her because they're uneducated and don't realize that we're human beings just like everyone else. Yes, there's a portion of us who maybe get into trouble with the law...but it sucks that we have that image. It must have taken a lot of strength not to tell her off haha...

I have been called illegal cuz of my skin tone but that did not bother me one bit, I guess is cuz I'm not. The ironic thing is that the most amount of discrimination that I have faced, have come from Hispanics. But I don't really care what they say, or the fact that they treat you differently; I just let them talk and don't say anything, not because I'm scared or anything but because they are not worth my breath. There is one thing though that I will never support, why do some Hispanics have so many children when they don't even have a stable job or legal documentation. Seriously, if you cannot raise your own children without government help then don't have them. I'm an only child for a reason, my parents wanted to give me everything and knew that raising another child would be expensive. But if you have tons of money, heck have as many as you want!

Fist, I would like to mention that your volunteer service is a great and applaud reason for you to feel good with your self and the multicultural community.
Second, you did good in not trying to explain your real immigrant situation as for she was already in a precarious condition, suffering, and provably blaming many things or factors for such fortune upon her.
And thirdly, keep up the good work...

*Remember: Don't hate people for having such radical or better say uneducated view of a subject, better yet, educate them so they can live a better life in the future.

Yes it has. People assume I'm American or from somewhere else but never imagine that I was born across the border and that I'm undocumented. I don't tell them about my status because what's the point and I really don't feel like getting into and argument or feeling weirderrrrrr.

By the way GREAT job on volunteering for a great cause!

It'll bring you many many good rewards.

When the old lady screams at him" if your going to be in this country illegally at least Lear to speak English "! He was like excuse me! but he couldn't finish when her daughter said "omg I'm so sorry" and started telling her mom "how can you say that you should never say stuff like that mom" whatever my brother just left..

Ha?? Are you hispanic? your not undocumented? How have hispanics discriminated against you. You are very poorly educated. White poor people have crap loads of children too? Black people too? racist much??? I think your parents couldn't have any more children. Do you realize that what you are saying is that only white privileged rich people can have more than one child and that basically anybody below the poverty level can't. Why do they have so many kids= population tends to be young, if hispanic they are most likely Catholic or religious and most likely against abortion, lack of sex education, lack of contraception availability, not educated on contraception. Your crazy.

Damn! girl. I live in the 805 too some areas are ok, and some areas you are just like WTH? I was walking like 1/2 block from a lady pushing a stroller when this college aged guy stuck his head out the window and was like "learn english bitch" my mom worked for this republican old lady cleaning her house. She never asked for papers but damn she used to complain about "all the other mexicans" that don't send their kids to school like her (she knew I was in college). I volunteered for GOTV to get people to vote and this lady yelled at how my organization was a radical organization that was "pro illegal alien" and she would not vote for Obama she went inside her house and brought this American Flag out and put it up on her house. I just looked at her I wanted to laugh but just said thank you and walked away. We weren't even there to talk to her it was her mom that was on the list.
