ok u guys i found this website where it explains about issuing a DL to non US citizens in some states.

http://www.cga.ct.gov/2002/rpt/2002-R-0767.htm
http://www.ailadownloads.org/advo/NI...quirements.pdf

my question is: HAS ANY1 EVER SUCCESFULLY GOTTEN A DL LIKE THIS IN TEXAS?
WILL THIS AFFECT ANY1 APPLYING FOR DACA AFTER HAVING RECEIVED THE DL THIS WAY? WHAT EXACTLY MUST THE AFFIDAVIT CONTAIN/EXPLAIN ? or must the applicant have lawful presence here in the U.S when applying?

Individuals Who Don’t Have a SSN

To apply for a SSN, visit the Social Security Administration website.

Individuals who do not have a SSN, have never been issued a SSN, or are not eligible for a SSN can visit any driver license office and complete an affidavit attesting to such. Providing a false statement in connection with this affidavit will result in the cancellation of the driver license and may result in criminal charges. An affidavit is not acceptable for the issuance of a CDL.

NOTE: If you are not eligible for a SSN, then you are not eligible for a commercial driver license (CDL).

The only thing is that after you receive your EAD you'll qualify to apply for an SSN (social security number), so my advice would be to keep things simple, have some patience and apply for a driver's permit & subsequently license (depending on the state's rules) after you receive your SSN.

Fair enough, although your initial question involved how this would affect a DACA applicant so I'm not sure why you wrote that if you're asking on behalf of a non-DACA applicant....

Cant get a dl in tx without proof that you are here "legally". Some ppl cant get a social. Like ppl who come from mex w a passport nd visa if they want to get a dl they can if they bring that printout and their tourist visa. Or like back in the days were u could brig a printout and mexico birth certificate not no more.

exactly right... If you are here "legally" and don't have a social then you can use the affidavit.. If you don't have any DHS documents showing you are allowed to be here then you can't get a DL or ID in TX..
I think it was 2007ish when they started requiring proof of status.

cause if this did work, and when my friend is eligible for daca he will go ahead & apply (he is waiting to get his ged) and doesnt want this to affect him because of the affidavit.
thats why im doing some research for him.
