i recently purchased toyota 2004 corolla for $6000.. my mom paid half of it

it has around 165k miles and has clean record. no accident at all. only 1 owner. no mechanical problem and my friend said cars like this can easily go over 200k.. is this true?

itt has great mpg too.

28 on local and 40 on highway

Put it this way... I have a '92 Camry that is about to hit 240k. The engine lives of Toyota's are by far very, very generous lol

Good thing you bought Toyota though. Toyota and Lexus are the most reliable.

Was it the Corolla S?

I purchased my first generation Solara with 130k. It's now at 195K, have driven it to Colorado and back to Cali twice, and the engine's still running quiet, smooth and strong.

I did a switch to full synthetic oil when I first purchased it and haven't looked back. I'm sure that helped some.

An engine well maintained can last you a long time. If previous owner took care of the car i.wouldn't worry too much. Just take care of it.

Not really. The lip kit on the S just gives the car a more sporty look is all. Both have the same engine.
