How does getting the SSN work?

Do I just print the application out, fill it out correctly

take it to the Social security office and show them my

EAD
Passport
Birth certificate
DACA approval letters

How do I go about getting a print out?(need to use for DMV asap)

Yes you can print the application at home fill it out & take it to your nearest social security office. All you need is a valid passport or birth certificate & your EAD card.

It takes about 7-14 business days to receive your social in the mail, but 24 hours after applying you can go back to the office & get a print out, most dmv's will not take a printout of your social. They always want the actual card, but it's worth a try. Good luck

Just wait the twos week for your card and save yourself the embarrassment

some states don't actually require that you have the actual card, just the number. so if you don't want to wait for the card you can always get your print out a day or two after you apply for the ssn. i did that and went straight to the dmv to get my dl. no problems at all. dmv didn't ask to see my social. they just asked for the number.

It was the easiest thing for me went to the office, got a number from the machine, filled out the form the security gave me, got called up showed only passport and EAD and that's it. Got my EAD on monday, went to SSA ON tuesday, and received the card on Saturday. Thank god evrything went smooth and hassle free.

Does anyone know if I need to go to the "local" SSA office that they give you on the website (based on your zip code)? There's a different one that's close to my work, so I can go there during my lunch break.

It doesn't matter, you can go there. As long as its a social security office.

guys how long it took for u to get ur social? I applied almost 4 weeks ago and they say that immigration has not verify my info yet and they can't give me a social number because of that, I have to wait 60 days! does that happened to anyone?
