So, apparently Alabama does not accept EAD with c33 category for driver's license. Since one of my relatives live at Texas, I'm planning to get my license there. However, I'm currently working and studying in AL so I can't physically be there but my plan is to ask my relative to rent an apartment in TX for 30 days to obtain apt lease and utility bill under my name (and my brother). Do you think this plan will work?

I'll tell you what a lawyer once said. We are not here to help you commit a better fraud, try at your own risk.

Hey OP, are you sure the Alabama doesn't take EAD with c33 category? Which DMV did you go to and what did they say to you?

Yeah just log on texas dmv website and look for what they require for proof of address. Sometimes a simple letter from a resident to vouch for you is all you need to claim residency. And no it's not fraud, people move all the time and hav a right to do that. Al does not want to cater to dreamers, heck get out.

Yeah, if your EAD was denied solely on the category code then it was denied by the drone at the DMV, not by the state.

Anyways I looked at requirements for AL and it seems that foreign passport is the primary document, and EAD is a supporting document for the passport (the valid US immigration document).

I also live in Alabama, I haven't gone to try yet. I asked my lawyer and she said that another customer of hers went to try and get a DL in Alabama and they said no because of the "c33" category. Are we supposed to go to any DMV or the non-citizens one in downtown?! I live kinda far from it so I don't wanna go and waste my time just for a "no".

I'm a little confused, how do the people at a DMV know what category your EAD is (i.e C33) .. Does it say so on the card? or do they ask you to specify?

From what I've looked at here in NYS, it just asks for an EAD, it doesn't specify any 'categories', even before DACA was in place..
