Hello everyone, I was approved for DACA and I'm applying for my driving permit and state ID here in NJ

One of the questions on the form is, "Are you in the country legally?" Yes or No?

I know we are technically still illegal here but if I put "no", I have a feeling this will cause all kinds of mess and confusion. what should I do?

Put yes, and try to get your state id first,
I went yesterday to get my permit and state id.
First i had to pay for the permit ($10) and fill out the application. then i went to the testing room, took the test and passed it. The instructor signs your paper and gives you a date for your road test(optional) . Then i went back to get my state id($11). In order to get my state id they had to take my dmv permit. So i was like, how am i supposed to drive if i dont have my permit? they told me you could only get 1. But then i saw an old lady at the reception, she seemed nice so i asked her if there was any way i could get both of them, and she told me that i had to pay $3 to get my permit back. So I had to make the line again and fill out the permit application again. After that ,they gave me my permit and i got to keep my state id. But i had to go back to the testing room so they could sign my permit again.

So yeah , you must get your state id first.
btw i went to lodi's dmv.

These MVC workers are stubborn. They wouldn't count my EAD card w/ SSN card + I797 (notice of action) together. Those two alone are worth 7 points according to the website. Now I have to go get my diploma and comback

anyone else had this problem?

Sorry, one more question. Can I take the permit test the day after I get my state ID? or should I wait a week? Planning to go Friday for state ID then Saturday for the test. There goes my weekend.

Yes you can do that. Get state ID first and then permit the next day. That's what I did.

wow i had the same problem, that they wouldnt take both ead and i797 notice of action so they told me to get your diploma, so i told them that i lost it, so the lady took my over 2 years school transcipts and counted as 1 point and yes i was relieved and happy finally.
