Hey guys, my younger brother who is also DACA eligible was approved last Friday after a two month wait. Today, his receipts came in the mail one for his Work Authorization and a second one for ...TPS

Can someone please explain what happened? His receipt is completely different from my own or my other brother's (who was also approved last week). In our receipts it clearly states Deferred Action (DACA) not in his, for him it states "you have been granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) under section 244 of the immigration and nationality act..." etc, etc. I was under the impression that only individuals from Central America where TPS eligible?

Now, my best guess is, that because he is a minor (17) , the process may be completely different but this is the first time I hear of such a thing in this forum or elsewhere. Can anyone please enlighten me here?

Call up USCIS tomorrow, that's not normal.

TPS is I-821, DACA is I-821D

I checked his receipt, on the case type it says I-821 / I-821D both are on there. This is really weird.

I don't think it's because he's a minor. Did you guys file the applications yourselves or did you guys get them done through a lawyer?

TPS is only for people from certain countries and Mexico is not one of them.

i would have him call and straighten it out because if they find out that he didnt correct it and used TPS under false claims then he could get in trouble.

I filled out his application, my application and my other brother's application. I just went over them and everything seems to be fine. It's more than likely a USCIS fuck-up.

yeah, we'll definitely give them a call. I really don't understand this, the information on his Work Authorization Card clearly states MEXICO on country of birth, do they seriously not know wtf they're doing over at USCIS? Meh

C33 everything seems to be as its supposed to, except for the fact that they gave him TPS for some randomass reason.

The worst part about this is that we have to call back, have them fix it and they'll get back to us 6 months from now or something. Even worse, they'll probably ask us pay again to fix their mistake.
