Hey guys!

Has anyone taken out the Sallie Mae Student Loan recently? I thought undocumented students could apply, I sent in all my info, and now they're asking to see my Visa. Is it ok if I send them a copy of my expired Visa?

Thanks!

you're not qualified.

you can only take out student loans from a Private Bank (Think Wells Fargo, Citizen's Bank) with a permanent resident (or citizen) co-signer.

Even if I have a citizen cosigner? I thought that we could apply through Sallie Mae as international students. I sent everything in and talked to them, and they keep on checking my documents and telling me they need to verify them. My I-94 is expired, but I still sent it in and they're checking on using it.

I've checked Wells Fargo and they're not doing undocumented students right now. However, Citizen's Bank is, so I'm sending my application in to them to see what I get.

So, just as an update in case anyone is going through this. I think Sallie Mae no longer helps unless you are a permanent resident. They're asking for proof of legal stay. However, I'm working with citizens Bank and they seem to be working well. I will update you guys so that if anyone else needs it it can help them.
