My brother was mailed a 2nd biometric appointment. According to him, the first time went smoothly and there were no problems with his fingerprints. Is this normal, or is it some sort of additional screening?

Sometimes its a glitch, but you guys should call them. Your brother's first appointment letter was stamped and signed, right? Make sure you have those details when you call USCIS. Good luck.

Just because he said it went fine doesn't mean it went fine behind closed doors. Like Bert said it could be a glitch but it could also be that some of his prints didn't come out well and he'll need to do them again, no big deal.

Did his fingerprints pass on the screen the first time?
When i took my bios they were all rejected on the screen, the person who took my bios said i would most likely receive a second appointment to retake them, but she would submit them anywayhoping the FBI wouldnt reject them.
i've heard if they are rejected you hear back from the within a week or 2 just like your brother did.
i guess i shouldnt be too worried? it's gonna be two months next week since i went to my bios.

My brother received a 2nd Bios letter too, he did his in november. Issue with him was lawyer messed up. So long story short is that as soon as he gets his bios done within 2 weeks he's getting his EAD according to the lawyer. (hope so)
So yeah I'd say its normal for whatever the reason is to get a 2nd bios letter.

P.S Somewhere in this forum I read that USCIS can only ask you for bios 2 times so dont worry about getting a 3rd.

I wonder who these lawyers are that could tell him that he will be approved after doing his bios? I hope he didn't charge you a lot. And on this forum there was someone that did get asked a third time.
