An "acquaintance" just told me his friend applied for ss and that he had to fill a questioner and asked if he had used any other number to open credit cards, and if yes that you had to fill out which companies. That's the first time I hear about that. Since I have opened credit cards with a fake #, that I will get charged with fraud. Does anyone know if this is true?

i think most credit car companies woulnt even let you apply with a face ssn as they would probably do a check and see that its either fake or not your name...on the other hand if you had a credit card with you ITIN number like i do i dont think that would be a problem!

Haven't heard that before. I know I wasn't asked that, just if I have received any public benefits.

That is a new one. The man who helped me did not ask me any questions.

Like JJ Glo said, all they asked about was public benefits.

That "acquaintance" is just trying to derail your progress. Ignore them.

I got asked that when applied, there's a question on the form that says if any family member had opened a credit card for you.

I put yes, which I regretted since I didn't have a credit card but a debit card.

What form did you fill out? The SS-5 application doesn't ask that.
