Has anybody with DACA traveled inside the US? What are your experience? Is there any risk? Any information about this topic would be appreciated. Thank you.

There aren't any risks involved in traveling within the U.S by plane.

All you need is your state's ID.

Now if you plan on driving across an immigration checkpoint, then you should probably bring along your EAD and a copy of your approval letters.

No risk with DL/ID. Take your DACA approval letter if you're really worried.

There shouldn't be any risk as long as you have state ID/DL. In fact, I flew a few times just with my uni ID although the last time they sent me to 2nd revision & it was scary so I haven't flown since. I'm excited to travel without fear now!

Why would you show boarder agents your EAD? EAD just shows you're authorized to work.. All you need at a boarder check point is your state ID because it says temp visitor exp on it till a certain date..

If you're part of the few states that your ID doesn't show that.. Just being your 821D letter.. There's no need to ever use your EAD except if asked for it at a job.

Your EAD shows "c33" which is the category for DACA and I believe it does prove your status. The Border Patrol should be aware of that.

Yeah, what Leo said. The BP officer will ask if you're a U.S. citizen, and since we're not, we have to prove that we have legal presence. An ID alone is not an indication of legal presence. For example, here in California, a lot of us are getting the regular 6 year IDs while our DACA can end 2 years from now. So just like how a visitor shows his VISA and a PR shows his Green Card, we can show our EAD which has the category under which we are legaly present. I doubt they'll let you go free with just showing a copy of your approval letter. With the EAD card, it's certain.

At the SSA you have to show proof of your legal presence, they ask for the EAD. Same thing at the DMV, you need to prove your legal presence, you show them your EAD.
