Hey guys...

A public school near my area is looking for an office clerk/aid, and I'm interested in applying. Also, this maybe the same case for when I go back to school (community college) and they have some part-time staff opening. I hope this doesn't come off as a dumb question, but I was wondering if it's ok for us to apply for jobs at public schools with just the EAD....since public schools are government-funded and all. Would you need to at least be a GC holder to qualify?

Please help, if anyone knows anything about this.

Good questions: DACers cannot work for the federal government, but I am not sure about local state government though

I know you can work in a public school as a substitute teacher with only EAD so I can only assume you can be an office clerk as well. It only applies to federal work positions to what you are not allowed to work in.

I do not think you need to be a PR or USC either to be a teacher, merely have work authorization and a degree in most cases.

It might vary in each state (doubt it) but from what I know you don't have to be PR/USC. Just have work authorization and of course meet the other requirements.

Ok...thanks guys. Their website doesn't say anything about being a PR/USC...actually they don't really say anything related to immigration status, so that was a bit unclear to me. But they do background checks and fingerprinting.....which I have no problem doing. Anyone went thru this before?

anyway...thanks again for the info. really appreciate it.

I'm also looking into working as a clerk at a public school. I think I might even be qualified to be teacher's assistant here you just need to have an associate's degree only it's not very specific.

Just go and apply, like Walgreens said. I know here in my school district you just need to pass a background check.
