Senator Rubio gives his opinion of the leaked White House plan here.
Quote:
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Saturday that President Obama's immigration plan will be "dead on arrival" on Capitol Hill if it looks like the proposal reported by USA Today.

“If actually proposed, the president’s bill would be dead on arrival in Congress, leaving us with unsecured borders and a broken legal immigration system for years to come," said Rubio, who's seen as a key figure in pushing a bipartisan immigration bill through the Senate.

A White House spokesman told POLITICO earlier Saturday that the administration continues to support a bipartisan plan from the Hill and has not produced a final bill to send to Congress. But Rubio's statement is combative, accusing Obama of releasing a proposal without getting Republican input.

“It’s a mistake for the White House to draft immigration legislation without seeking input from Republican members of Congress," Rubio said.

"President Obama’s leaked immigration proposal is disappointing to those of us working on a serious solution. The president’s bill repeats the failures of past legislation. It fails to follow through on previously broken promises to secure our borders, creates a special pathway that puts those who broke our immigration laws at an advantage over those who chose to do things the right way and come here legally, and does nothing to address guest workers or future flow, which serious immigration experts agree is critical to preventing future influxes of illegal immigrants."

“Much like the president’s self-described ‘stop gap’ Deferred Action measure last year, this legislation is half-baked and seriously flawed," Rubio added. "It would actually make our immigration problems worse, and would further undermine the American people’s confidence in Washington’s ability to enforce our immigration laws and reform our broken immigration system.

Very premature attack by Rubio, he should've at least waited for the full details before jumping the gun. This attitude of his would really hurt him if he decides to run for President in 2016. Last time I checked this "stop gap" measure created positive opportunities for those who are approved. I despise how these politicians view us as things instead of real humans who has needs and dreams.

Mark my words...

He will run for president in 2016 but will lose BIG to Hillary Clinton.

I think republicans (the base) are not quite ready for an Hispanic presidential candidate. Rubio will not make it through the primaries. Anyways, no republican is a match for Hilary.

If approved, they would be allowed to legally reside in the U.S. for four years, work and leave the country for short periods of time. After the four years, they could then reapply for an extens

Four years??

Rubio needs to walk a fine line between immigration reformer and conservative champion. He's a key person to neutralize conservative opposition, but precisely because of that virtue, he needs to show he's putting up a fight against Obama and even win some of that fight.

I am assuming he genuinely wants to do CIR, because this will sore up his credentials come 2016. Otherwise, I don't understand his strategy.
