Maybe this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the thread:

Does USCIS more or less approve cases on a first come first served basis? I noticed there are 40 receipt numbers ahead of mine in "initial review". Before that, everyone seems to have gotten some decision. Any ideas?

Also, any ideas how long it may take once you have 40 people ahead of you? lol...

If we go off of Receipt Numbers alone, then no. There are people who get approved ahead of you, it's not first come first served.

Now, we don't know why this might be. Maybe they do check your case first and send you a Biometrics appointment first, but if your application takes longer to process, they will do the faster ones first, if you did a walk-in instead of waiting for your appointment, or the ones who's background check clears faster first.

Nope. I sent mine in nearly a month after some folks who sent them in week 1.

I"m not sure what the system they have in place in, but it certainly isn't first come first serve. The size of you packet I assume also greatly affects the review process time. Mine was relatively small, just the bare minimum. 10-15 pages.

I sent in my application barely 2 months ago and got approved less than a month after biometrics. Feel bad for August people that are still waiting.

No doubt, I recall seeing a few people post that they had no choice but to turn down a few job/internship offers down because they expected their EAD to come int sooner. A minority have been allowed to have their job offer "reserved" until their EAD arrived.

My theory is that all DACA cases are divided and then assigned to different officers. The officers already have other non-DACA caseloads and they work at different paces. So one batch of applications might go to someone that has a low caseload and works fast, another batch goes to the person across the hall that is already swamped with cases. Plus because its a government agency, officers are not rewarded by how fast they process cases, so no real incentive for them to hurry with their cases. Plus remember most people there probably just work their 8 hours no more.
But I back the idea of someone befriending an officer so that we know the secret
