Hey guys! this really sucks, I came here when I was 10 years old, from bogota colombia because my parents wanted a brighter future for our family, we came in legaly with a worker visa which we renewed year and year again until we could apply for residency, which unfortunaly the paperwork was lost in the tragic events of 9-11 becasue our lawyers had their office in the world trade center. After that we stayed legal trough other visas, had to cross the mexican boder in order to get them becasue the US embassy was deniing any type of visa in colombia. Then afer a while we applied again for recidency, we even got the parole which ment our recidency was coming along, but becasue of a sudden law for immigrant health care workers (my mom) we didnt meet requirements and it got denied. The problem is that I'm Already 21 and I'm not covered by my parents anymore. So I'm Illegal I've been here for over 12 years, went from elemtary school all the way though high school. In highschool I got many scholarship offerings for playing varsity soccer, graduated with honors and was able to go to school with a bright futures scholarship. I was lucky enough to be able to go to college. I enrolled in Florida International University legaly, But I graduate next monday BBA in International Business, with 3.5 GPA but have Absolutely no where to go. NO JOB, NO FUTURE. I thought about going back to colombia, but if i leave now nothing guarantees me an entrance to the U.S Again, and worst of all I would not know when I would be able to see my parents again. That would be heartbreaking for both my parents and I we re realy close. I really hope this act pases, both for me and for the thousands of immigrants who have the potential to succeed in a country where the posiblities are endless. I feel like I shoud belong here, but Im not wanted, and that in my own country I feel like a tourist.... it's just a sucky feeling

Hey man hang in there, It's great to hear that you will be already getting your degree. I'm from Colombia as well, been here for about half the time you have. Planning on majoring on international business as well; How many years of school did you have to go through? Hopefully this is our year, although things seem to be moving slowly. Just pray that something gets done this year otherwise we will probably have to wait another 2-3 years for any sort of action.

if u were here legally, why didn't you apply for a F student visa once you got accepted into college? you would have maintained your legality and been eligible to use the 2 year practical training that comes along with it, during which you could have applied for a h1b visa with your employer and eventually changed your status to a green card. It would have been a long and tedious path, but at least you would have had something secure, rather than wait for the DREAM Act.
