Hey Dreamers!

I am new to this site, and am hoping to get some help from you guys if possible.

I am a DACA recipient from CA, and received my approval letter about a week ago. Yesterday, I went to the SSA to apply for an SSN. They told me that it should arrive in 7-10 days. After that, I am planning on applying for a CA ID first (I don't know how to drive, so the license will have to wait until I am ready).

Has anyone from CA applied for an ID already?

How was the process like? Exactly what documents do I need to show? I went to the DMV website, but it doesn't say anything about DACA.

Here is an idea of what I think I should take to the DMV. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!

Utility bill
DACA approval letter
EAD
SS Card
Foreign Birth Certificate?

Is that it? Also, what should I do with the utility bill if I am 20, but still live with my parents. I do not have any bills to my name. I also do not own a cell phone, so no cell phone bill either

Thank you! I appreciate the help.

EAD card and SOCIAL don't have to bring the actual card, DMV checks your SSA # on the spot

So, I only need my EAD and my SSN?
That simple?!

I thought I also needed my I-797 form/DACA approval letter.

Yes, just the EAD and SSN.

You don't apply for the license right away. You first get a Driving Permit. For that, you just need to take the written test. You need the driving permit to be able to learn how to drive with a license driver. You can schedule the Behind The Wheel Test once you know how to drive.
