Hi everyone! Long time no chat. It's great to see all these approvals on here and so many people with licenses and jobs

I just had a quick question (that I'm sure applies to some of you). I saw that it was addressed here, but I just wanted to see what those of you who are approved are doing.

So my name is like a lot of South Americans, John Alex Smith York (not my real name, just an example!).

In my country (and on my passport), my last name is Smith York. But for school and basically everything I register for in the US I use York. . When I filled out my applications, I used York as my last name, but when I got my EAD , it was Smith York as my last name (I'm assuming the DHS officer used my passport as a reference) Naturally the SSA put that as my last name, as did the DMV. It's just a little annoying because I use York for everything (including bank accounts), but my permit, EAD, and SS card say otherwise

I'm going to try to ask the DMV to put York as my last name on my license when I get it, but I'll doubt they'll do it. I read that I could go to a probate court and ask for the name change. Does anyone know about that process? At this point I figure I'll just stick with the Smith York on my EAD, SS card, and license and just change it when I reapply for DACA.

Anyone else run into this? Are you just going to leave it as is? Or change it? Or does anyone know the process of changing this? Maybe it's possible to do it through USCIS/DHS without reapplying? Ha. I'm just full of questions

i believe unless you get USCIS to issue an EAD that only states "York" as your last name then having both names is just something you and many of us are going to have to deal with.

You're going to have to deal with it

Unless you change your name in your passport and birth certificate

Yeah, same here. I hate it. But i look at it like this, at least i have a DL now In my case im leaving it like that cause im getting married in a couple of months nway, therefore im obliterating my 2 last names and just leaving my future husbads last name so it could be 1 last name instead of 2.
