After a discussion on another thread regarding question #9 on the DACA application form I think we need to start a thread and get feedback from people who have already been approved.
For this question I answered with a country other than the US as I interpreted the question as asking for legal country of residence. After 8 lawyers getting back to me and with out hesitation saying that US is the answer to this question I need people to be reassured that the USCIS may infact see this as a misleading question and accept either.
Another dreamer posted that they had heard USCIS does except both. So I would like to hear from dreamers who answered with any country other than the US and were approved. Also I would like to hear from dreamers who answered with any country other than the US and received an RFE regarding this answer.

Well US is the correct answer here. Note that one of the requirements is "continuously resided in US since at least June 15th 2007 up until present", ie. if you do not reside in US then you're ineligible.

Besides, USCIS is rather lenient with DACA applications. I made at least 1 mistake on my form, on I-765 I put "Unlawful Status: DACA by ICE" which is only for people who were in custody of ICE and got released as part of DACA, and I think I forgot to fill my A# on the I-821D (altho I think that's the last thing I put into the PDF and then printed it, and then didn't bother to save, both I-797C listed it correctly). Got approved.

I think that people who wrote anything other than United States of America on Question #9 of application I-821D and get an RFE for continuous residence, should write a letter stating that you wrote the wrong answer on Question #9, because you never know, that question could be linked to the cause of the RFE.

He knows it should be US, he just wants to know if USCIS is taking the answer seriously or if they're being lenient.

In my opinion, they are being lenient with our applications and I don't think that answer will affect you since the adjudicators can see your previous addresses and from what dates you've lived there, plus the evidence you send in for continuous residence.

Unless, you get a really hateful adjudicator who just wants to take the answer as it's written and discard all of the previous evidence, then you should be okay.

Lmao that's why he keeps defending that the answer should be our country of birth. Should have seen the other thread he was really defending that it should be our country of birth not the USA.

He doesn't keep defending his answer. Read his post.

"For this question I answered with a country other than the US as I interpreted the question as asking for legal country of residence. He admits that he misinterpreted the question, so now we're just getting off topic. He wants to hear from other people who also put anything else besides USA and were approved so that he can see if USCIS is being lenient on this answer or not.

Well stating another country other than US on the app and than providing evidence from the US is pretty contradicting. Plus we sign the app stating that everything is correct. Therefore is lying. :-\

Then it becomes a question of in which one did he make the mistake?

On one single question, or on multiple sections where he wrote his current address, previous address, and on his evidence?

Which is more likely?

Exactly if he really misinterpreted the question why did he submit evidence of being here 5 straight years. The instructions define what to put too.
