For those who know about the CLEP tests they are test to get you over the first few classes you need for GE in college, today I took the Spanish one and gained 16 college elective credits. The test was $80 but it was well money spent, saved me time and money. Anyone else taken the other ones, I saw they have some for History, Math, Science and so on. I really want to take the other ones so I can get those classes over with. What would you guys recommend for these other tests ? Where do I go to study for them ? Have any of you taken these ?

I took the freshman comp w/ essay one. It was pretty easy. I would've absolutely loathed to sit through a semester of a freshman writing class.

Yes it certainly does!! Each $80 CLEP test that you pass may grant you 3-4 credits towards a degree (check with the university regarding which CLEP tests they take). Most universities take up to 32 credits in CLEP credit! If you're getting an Associate's degree that's literally half of the degree right there.

CLEP helps you so much if you're paying out of the state tuition. In my case I'd be saving about 2,000 bucks with it. I will take it very soon.

Depends on your university. Usually the university has some sort of web page which states whether or not it takes CLEP credits. It also states which class the CLEP exam is equivalent to.

Take UT Arlington --

http://www.uta.edu/universitycollege...ation/clep.php

CLEP Test -- Equivalent class
Calculus -- MATH 1426
College Algebra -- MATH 1302
Pre-Calculus -- MATH 1322 and 1323*

So taking CLEP College Algebra gives you credit for MATH 1302. That sounds like the class that's a pre-req for Pre-Calc at UTA.
