I always looked forward to this moment. It finally happened, and it was an amazing feeling. All those times I had to show the green, poorly laminated, Mexican matrícula consular card that usually went like this:

-Can I see your ID?
-Oh, I only have this.
-Ohhhhkkkkkayyy.

For the first time last week, I was in a government office where I was requested to show my ID, and for the first freakin' time, I was able to show my CA state issued ID! Oh, that felt amazing not having to feel like wanting to hide under a desk because, and getting anxious because you fear encountering people who won't even know what a matrícula is — "Oh, a green card with Spanish on it??? Please have a seat right over there".

Some people speculated that we would grow complacent with DACA, and forget about the DREAM Act. I think it has been the opposite — DACA has shown us for the first time what legalization means, and has made us want the passage of the DREAM Act even more.

lol my ID situation has been going the other way where I show my old state ID that still has a year to go...it feels weird not to show them a DL.

Im 20. went to an L store and showed my ID expecting the guy not to do math. He looked and asked what I wanted. Then he thought about it and asked for it again.

Him: Got ID?
Me: yeah here(took out my wallet all sly)
Him: Okay what do you want
Me: That (insert brand name)
Him: Can I see your ID again
Me: Sure(repeat wallet scenario less sly)
Him: You're not 21
Me: oh...(walk away)

I'm assuming you don't live in CA cuz if you are under 21 you get stripes and the whole thing is vertical.
