I've been listening to police scanners since 11p keeping up with the whole MIT saga tonight. It turns out they're the same bombers from monday. the bombers are Chechnyan immigrants, they've been in the US for a year. I think they're legal residents. Do you guys think the fact that they're newer and young immigrants will have an effect on the reform?

I am sitting here watching the news for the past hour, they are talking about the two terrorist brothers who are suspected to be responsible for the marathon bombings. I feel like the news (media), as always, is trying to blow up a story of their own. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard them saying and emphasizing and repeating over and over again on how these brothers said to be from Chechen, are Legal permanent residents of the U.S. and how they have been living here legally for about 10 years. They have said it in every way possible using the word legal, immigrated, and so on. Now I don't know about you, but when I first started listening to the story I didn't really give a fudge about where they were from. All I want is for them to get caught (or killed, as one has) and punished fully to the extent of the law. As soon I heard them trying to pronounce their names and I cringed and said "here we go!"

Does it bother you? Do you think people might use things to oppose CIR? Do you think it will help? Are you indifferent?

At this point I wish they would just find this guy on the run, it is obviously the most important thing right now.

Those against CIR will undoubtedly politicize this. Prepare for "stronger border measures" and "more in depth background checks". This has the magnitude to derail the momentum CIR has gained.

People who oppose CIR will oppose it no matter what; it may seem like this tragedy has given them ammo, and perhaps it has, but they would have found other excuses regardless of the circumstances.

It bothers me a lot. The media has proven itself to be utterly irresponsible when it comes to the reporting of tragedies such as this.

In the first few hours of the aftermath, several news outlets kept repeating how there was supposedly a Saudi national in custody, reports that were refuted by the police.

Then, some idiots at the NY Post managed to taint the reputation of a freaking HIGH SCHOOL student who just happens to look brown by posting his picture on the front page. As a result, this poor kid is fearing for his life.

There were also "reports" that a missing Brown student, who, I would like to emphasize, suffers from depression, was somehow involved in this. This poor guy could be at his wit's end, and some morons have decided that just because his name isn't John Smith that he is involved or something.

And now they keep emphasizing that these suspects were foreign...because Eric Rudolph, Timothy McVeigh (USC) weren't terrorists or anything...or that none of the victims are foreign or anything like that /sarcasm.

UGH there was a foreign national killed in the attack. Have they emphasized that? No.

Honestly, the whole thing makes no sense. If these suspects are indeed the only ones responsible for the attack, then what the hell were they thinking? What is their motivation? There doesn't seem to be one that makes any sense...What does Boston have to do with Checnya..?

I can already see Republicans not voting for CIR..They will use these excuse.

"Colleagues let us remember what happened during the Boston Marathon! Do you want to see the same blood-shed ? Legalizing these 11 Million illegal immigrants will be dangerous."

I was just watching this on Tv and I was waiting for them to say something about it and there it went "legal residents" (came here at a young age) ... Really? Do we give a shit?? No. Stop! this it's all bs. Not for nothing but that's the least thing people want to know! Figure out if they were from any terrorist group! That would be better news! As days go on I keep analyzing and thinking this is all set up! I don't know about everyone else but that's just my opinion, especially with the whole immigration bill coming up! It all looks like a suckie move from the government.

Yeah I can see a congressman/senator using this situation as an excuse to oppose CIR. Am hoping that they don't, but they will use it to make CIR harder to pass. I just hope they get the remaining suspect soon. I don't like terrorist period, its one of the reason why I want to be a FBI analyst to prevent things like this from happening.

Valiendo madre! I had wished that they were domestic terrorist, for that same reason you speak off. thought its true anti immigrants will always look for the most insignificant thing to stop CIR, this is like a big can of gas for their tiny fire..., Ive read some where they've been here 1yr and in others 10Yr ??? The only good thing if any, They are aperantly
of Islam decent. so that kind of explains why they did it, and keep a bit of heat from all the rest of us immigrants.
