So a zucchini, a carrot, and a bunch of broccoli walks into a bar....just kidding, I wouldn't punish you guys with a horrible vegetable joke, lol. Anyhoo, I've been rather mum on the site so before y'all assume I'm pushin' up daisies or something, I figured it may be best to explain, since we all seem to be "sharing" as of late, making kindergarten teachers worldwide so proud.
But I'm rather out of emotions right now, on robot mode I suppose, as in my fire's not out, but rather running low. Not exactly helping my rekindling issues is the fact that we're officially in deportation proceedings, my mother, my little sister, and I, so in two weeks, we go to court and the judges become the only thing separating us from the border, so we're trying for a cancellation of removal. Our lawyer is planning on postponing the case until October, when my little sister will have been here 10 years so she qualifies for cancellation also, so that gives me a little more time for Dream to pass. He thinks this is going to be long and drawn out so hopefully Dream will pass soon, and I can at least start and finish my sophomore year at UH. But enough of my sob story, because I know I'm not the only one, and I know there are people in other places, and even here in the States that are starving and don't have 1/100th of the opportunities that I have now, even facing deportation, so that keeps things in perspective.
It just dawned on me reading through some posts that I have to be thankful that some of you guys are still holding up the fort while some of us are taking a little leave of absence for a while, and for that I thank you guys. So that's that...and eat your vegetables!!!

Nobody wants anyone of us to get deported... I'm sorry you're in that situation now, but I truly believe something will happen this year ::knock on wood:: and I hope you don't get deported in the meantime!

We're our own little family and we turn to each other for guidence and support. It's funny because I don't think anyone of us have met in real life, but we share such an overwhelming bond that it doesn't matter if we physically see each other or not. No one really understands what we're going through except for us and it's great to see all these inspirational comments/stories. It makes me feel good to have all of you to turn to.

Ok. enough sappyness...

I'm gonna go eat my veggies now haha

Thanks guys, that means a lot, and I completely agree with all of you, so us Dreamies have got to stick together and party like there's no tomorrow when this is all over! And I'm so glad to hear someone's eating their vegetables, way to go!

Ok, quick update. So we went to see our lawyer today before D-day next week, and while I don't feel like totally airing my dirty laundry for alipacers and such to make fun of, I will say based on what he said, I need DREAM to pass now more than ever, so I'm trying to rack my brain to see what else we can possibly do, and looking through these threads I see a lot of people have really good ideas, and hopefully by September we'll be a well-oiled machine...so if anyone needs help, or has any good ideas, let me know, though I won't do your laundry or fetch your beer etc. lol

Wow, talk about run-on sentence lol, oh well a little bad grammar won't kill any off you

No day but today!

There are three requirements one has to meet to qualify for cancellation of removal: You have to have been here for a continous period of ten years (hence my little sis), you have to be a person of good moral character, and you have to prove that your departure would present an "extreme and unusual hardship" on your U.S. Citizen spouse or children. And as for how they found out, we overstayed our visas while waiting for our immigration petition to come through, which they denied nine years after we applied (speedy aren't they? lol). Once it was denied, we appealed, and they sent the Notice of Removal shortly after. That's about it I suppose...
