I already have a SS#, Bank Account, Credit Cards.
I been in school from the start right now in College 21yrs old

USCIS received my case September 14, 2012
BIOmetric were done in October

Its april now? almost May

Whats going on?

Me & my brother did everything through a lawyer.
We applied at the same time
same date for finger print

My brothers case approved in Feburary 14th. COngrats to him.

Why Am I waiting so long? My case # is only 1 digit away from his?

I did the Request for Evidence

Quote:
The status of this service request is:

Thank you for your inquiry. As you are aware, USCIS began accepting filings of Form I-821D on August 15, 2012, and at this time there is insufficient data to calculate an official processing time. Once USCIS is able to calculate an official processing time for Form I-821D, it will be published at www.uscis.gov. Until a processing time can be determined, Officer’s decisions are made following a thorough case-by-case review. At this time, your case remains under review. USCIS recognizes the requestor’s interest in a final determination on the pending filings and the California Service Center is committed to processing this workload within the constraints of our available resources.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
Thats all they sent me.

Any ideas on what i can do?

I'm in the same boat except my brother was approved in October. I spoke with my congressman, done service requests and called and I've learned the only thing we can do is wait. I haven't gotten a response from my most recent service request so hopefully that's a good thing since usually I get a response within the a day or 2

yeah this is some bullshit stuff and is totally not fair, not that I am not grateful for being approved faster but I would be pissed to if I had sent my stuff earlier than everyones and still not be approved

you pretty much just said the reason why you are waiting yourselfs , you have a social security # already , any body with previous social security #s prior cases with uscis , record , any type , are stuck awaiting 6+ months , why ? well they have to go through all your history etc.

I don't know about the whole previous case prolonging the approval theory. There are many people with previous cases much more intense than mine was (which includes my brother and few other people I know) that have been approved already in less than 6 months. I think it has more to do with the officer working on your case and how they actually work on your case

and I bet the more experienced care workers already have made a norm a bout what to take and what not while the newbies or inexperience are double asking and making sure more than once onwhat is acceptable and what is not

i have SS, license and all that jazz and it took me a while too. 6+ months. my only piece of advice on how to wait is to just stop waiting. let it go. it'll come. you checking your status twenty times a day isn't going to make it come any faster, it's only going to make it seem longer. just let it off your mind and it'll seem like it came in a day. enjoy your life. don't stress.
