I posted here a while back, asking questions about the form, helped out a bunch! Anyways, I sent in everything and they reviewed it. I got my biometrics appt April 10th, I walked in, sat down, filled out a form, fingerprints right after and left. It took like 8 minutes.

I'm supposed to get something in the mail right? It still hasn't came, kinda worried. What I want to know is what happens once I get whatever is coming in the mail. Where do I go after? I get my SSN? What do I need? Does it cost anything? I live in Oregon, and a bill was passed that gives undocumented citizens the ability to obtain licenses, so I have two ways of getting it now, so that part doesn't worry me as much

I asked about this a couple of days ago:
http://dreamact.info/forum/showthread.php?t=47888
I will, however describe my experience.
First, is locating your local SS office. Get there go in and look for a computer screen where it asks what you're there for (it is a kind of like a train ticket purchasing machine). You get a turn number (there will be a number of people waiting, (sort of like when you went to get your biometrics done). Also it tells you to ask the guard nearby for an application. You just tell him "Hi, may I get an application for a social security?". The application is just one page and very simple. Then you wait for your turn to be called. When called, you will be asked for your passport and your proof of status here (your ead). Careful because the lady asked me if i wanted help from the government or something like that, not sure if it's meant to be a trick or what since we can't legally get government assistance. I just said no. The lady or person will input everything, and when they're done, will tell you that you should get it in the mail in 5 to 10 days.

Oh awesome, yeah i guess I probably should have searched for the same question haha. So it's free? I'm pretty sure there's an SS office downtown, just have to wait for my EAD I guess. Thanks again! Also, if the lady asks if I wanted help from the government, what does she mean by that? Should I say no?

official average processing time is 6 months, that is posted on the uscis.gov website. Living in Oregon you might get lucky and get it earlier, but who knows.
