I know there are already topics about credit cards. And, i know people have said that they got accepted for capital one and bank of america without any problems. So I tried and applied for Citibank, Capital one, and bank of america. (at separate times) And I was rejected for all of them because "I am a permanent resident in another country."
--Currently, I am a college student and, I have received my SSN last year from DACA. and I do not have any credit score. I wanted to build my credit and thus, i applied for credit cards; (the student ones, only b/c of my nonexistent credit score)

How do I get approved for a credit card? (for those who have been approved of credit cards!) o___o

Am I only allowed to apply for secured credit card? To get approved for a secured credit card, does the permanent residence matter? :X

Get a firstprogress.com secured credit card. I got one in January and it shows progress on my credit score. They will approve you with no credit history. You will just deposit your collateral which willbe your credit line. I checked my TransUnion score this week and its at a around 734. I applied yesterday for another credit card with Capital One for a $200 secured credit card and only asked for a $49 deposit.

Where do you currently live? You might be answering one of the questions wrong...

Both of those cards come with annual fees.

US BANK has secured credit cards without fees. A much better choice:

If you have a relationship with a bank like Bank of America or Chase, you might be able to apply for a non secured card and get it based on the relationship. That's how I got my first card (from BOA).

Also applying in person or over the phone is the best. That way you can go for a reconsideration immediately. If you apply online the website won't care/let you give any reasons on why they should approve you.

And this right here is the problem.
You can select that you are a citizen of some other country, but you have to make sure to select the option that allows you to input your social security number, that is, resident (for financial purposes) or citizen of the US. You've now got 3 hard inquiries on your credit report xD.
