On Thursday afternoon, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued a joint statement with Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, Republican Conference Chairman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, and Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte confirming that the House will not accept the comprehensive immigration legislation that advanced by a 13-5 vote in the Senate, but will instead craft its own legislation to pass immigration reform.

During the Senate markup hearings, Boehner stayed out of the immigration fracas, but his statement on Thursday asserted his stance:

And this is why local elections matter.

SMH. Judging from the other article that says Boehner doesn't want to be "stampeded" by the Senate bill, its clear the guy is on a major ego trip as we speak. Lets just see how long this charade can continue in the House. They will cave in for sure eventually otherwise there will NEVER be a Republican President in the future of this country.

I'm not too concerned about this, just as long as the process is moved forward and they[House Republicans] pass something so we can go to conference.I'd be more concerned if the process on passing a bill stopped and the issue wasn't revisited for another 6-10 years.

The leadership and several House Republicans have already indicated they are open to Dream act let's just see where this takes us within a compromise! It is obvious it would be easier to just pass the Senate bill but nothing is ever easy in life!

Well I am not so much concerned about it passing, I'm just afraid it will all drift too far to the right, Senate bill got much more conservative after a trip through a Democrat and GO8 dominated judiciary.

This is allllllll political, these guys in the house don't do shit that benefits the country, everything they do is intended to help themselves and the party.. What kind of leadership is this? Truly disappointing..

Let's keep calling Boehner to pressure him to come to his senses.
