what's Durbin's new version of Dream Act will be like ?

From one article I post couple days ago , I read that he changed some context of the bill, I hope it's the in-state tuition part, because most of us are paying out-state tuition already, so it wouldn't be very important, I am hoping that he could give up on the in-state tuition in exchange of some votes from the conservative side. what's your thought on this ?

It would be nice to pay in-state tuition, but it would be even nicer to be legal. if changing that part of the bill is gonna give us more votes than thats fine with me.

exactly my thought, from all the opposition comments I read and post (people this is why we need to read opposition articles) it seems that they have no problem (or little problem) giving legal status to children, but the in-state tuition part is really struggling. I say maybe we should give Durbin a call and let him know ?

i think they can take out any sort of grant that is given out- many people say they take money from citizens who cant afford to go to school as is.

also, if they make a revision in the bill that says the STATES could decide whether to give instate or not...

then it shouldnt be a problem. i always wondered why they didnt make these revisions because then if the dream act passes, it will all be the same as it is right now, except for the fact that undocument kids gets the chance to be legal.

^ DREAM already says that states will get to decide whether to offer in state or not to undocumented residents. The antis lie about it to get people riled up.

Once you're legal, you get in state just because you are a legal resident of the state that you live in. The instate tuition portion is for other undocumented students who are not legalized by DREAM and states get to decide whether to offer in state to undocumented residents of their state (reside in the state for 6 month and you are considered a resident).

Im also thinking Durbin might try to add an age limit since DREAM in CIR had an age limit of 30. We'll see though, and I know Durbin wont give things up unless its absolutely necessary.

really?! then thats taken care of. i think they should take the grant out (there is grant included right?) and people writing articles and stuff should stress the fact that whether giving instate tuition is up to the states. they usually just write "gives instate to illegal children". whenever i read the anti comments in the articles, they always misunderstand the dream act and think that its going to give instate to the undocumented students' choice of any college of any state they wish..which is a really stupid misconception..i mean, come on!! they should get their facts straight.

age limit of 30 seems reasonable to me, considering the fact to qualify for dream, that you must have GED, (@the age of 18-19) and 4 years college (22-23)some of us had internship and co-cp so you added all up, you have 22-24 , now there are people who have been here much earlier but after the 1986 amnesty. so I would say the age limit of 30 is good for now.
