Hello,

I've been searching the forums for people who have crossed using their driver license after being DACA approved. I want to know their experience.

There was only one relevant one: I crossed a CBP checkpoint

All other seem to be speculating from before they got their DL or just crossing with their EAD, I want to know about stamped Driver's License.

My DL has a limited term red stamp on it and I was wondering what kind of questions I'll be asked?

Mainly I want to know who has crossed only using their stamped LIMITED TERM texas license. What where you asked? Did they ask for your EAD or letters? Passport or any other ID?

I'm not going alone and that is why I am a bit concerned since I'll be outed. If I can know what to expect though it would be a lot better.

I know this doesn't give us lawful presence or that we are not citizens or residents. So I am really nervous last time I crossed I was just waived through but I had legal lawful presence so I didn't care not things are different.

I'm supposed to be crossing from South Texas (McAllen, Brownsville, Harlingen, South Padre, Weslaco, Mission, Pharr, San Juan) up north through Corpus Christi.

I've only crossed through Falfurrias and I know this other route will be Sarita I think its called.

Please share your recent experiences. Thank you.

I want to know this as well.
I was supposed to go to SPI but my friends were going through Sarita, Tx which has a checkpoint.
The funny thing is that my cousin is married to a BP Agent and they always come to my house when visiting, but I always forget to ask him these kind of questions.
If anyone knows the answers to the above questions, can they please answer them. Thank you.

As far as I'm concerned, If you're not a U.S. Citizen, you will have to show that you have Legal Presence, and a Driver's License might not be enough to show that.

If you know you will be crossing a Border Patrol checkpoint, you should carry at least a copy of your I-821D approval letter in your car or better yet, your EAD.

Permanent Residents have to show their Green Cards when stopped at Border Patrol checkpoints.

The whole point of deferment is that you are deferred from deportation for 2 years. I would just say no when asked if you are a US Citizen and just show your EAD that you are legally allowed to work in the US. I think that would be the end of it. They may scan the EAD into their system to check that it is valid but I don't think they will do or ask anything more.

There used to be a time when that checkpoint would be closed (don't know anymore, haven't passed it in a long time)...but why risk it by not bringing your documents? If you're gonna travel, is better to have your card with you, I think the odds of losing it are small.

I should cross tomorrow night unless I get too scared! I'll report back. I was really hoping someone would answer this before then.

I'll bring my EAD, its just that I thought my driver license would not out me as much. I'm not out to my boyfriend yet and this is why I am so scared after all this time he is going to find out. :O

Its just a mess, its my fault.

I hope its closed, but I really doubt it. The border wall, and I see a BP car every other way on my way to and from work.

I crossed my white boyfriend was driving and they just let us go on where are we going and that was that. A bit anticlimactic but what are you going to do? I was really nervous but it was fun, also the BP agent was hispanic too so maybe that made it easier.
