For all of you who was in the chat, or not..... i do believe we should do something for dream this weekend..... we had many ideas some were way off, some were good and some were just too much work.... i think the best ones so far were the dream wall, and the teddy bear campaign.... i strongly agree with doing one of these. i don’t know how the money thing is going to work or who could be responsible for it.... but if we can collect the money maybe it can be done..... So just trying to get this started for real.... so am new in this portal. however, am very old to DREAM and other organizations like this one.... so just want to know who can moderate the money thing and maybe tomorrow i can call someone in dc who can work this out...... please help......

I dont know if the teddy bear thing would work but mailing is already out of the question someone would have to go to the office with the bears..If you guys were thinking of mailing stuff well this is what happens and its just for a letter..

THE PATH A LETTER MUST TAKE TO GET TO OUR DESKS:

1. Sent from an Iowan constituent to Senator Harkin
2. Arrives at a processing unit in Virginia (2-4 days)
3. On to Lima, Ohio for irradiation (10-14 days)
4. Sent to another processing unit where all non-paper contents are removed and tested (7 to 10 days)
5. If it clears that 7-10 day waiting period for test results, it then gets sorted into the individual office bins and is then delivered to the Senate.

That's why we decided to hold off the mailing becuase most of the articles I read said that it can take up to 4 weeks to mail items (non-letter) to senators.

Lets tone down the negativity, it certainly can be done. If as a group we cannot accomplish the simple task of getting a bunch of stuffed animals to people that our lives depend on then really how good are we at this whole thing? Please do not discredit the lot of us that much, if you do not believe in yourself then that is one thing but don't bring the rest of us down with you.

If people are serious about the Bear Campaign then we need to find two or three people who are local to deliver these things first thing Monday morning. Getting the bears is really no problem as, because of the time crunch, we will have to depend on local big box stores or the national mall. If we can find em for $5 ea or even $10 ea that would be okay... I'll cover half of the cost of anything we come up with and I am sure we can find other here to cover the rest.

The key here is to find one or two local people that we trust to handle this entire thing. Lets network please and find someone no later than Saturday!

Start networking people!!

You're right. Let's make this happen! I think there's a few people on the board that live near DC. If they don't want to go themselves because of their status, then maybe ask a friend to do it for you? I'm also willing to put some money down for this.

If a person goes there and hands packages in person, would they still have to do the procedures dreamact1982 mentioned?

I am trying to search online to no avail... as I am at work and cannot call the senators right now, can someone who calls a staffer please ask how dropping something off in person would work?
