I'm just curious because most of the articles i find always point out that the bill will never make it past the house.

I don't think the Senate bill will make it in the house but I do think they will come out with their tougher version which would increase the wait time for legalization and ultimately citizenship...that is if they even bother adding a citizenship route and not a permanent residence-only. I think something will pass this year but who knows how favorable it will be to us and our families.

I think CIR has about 55% chance of passing. Only if the bill is voted on like the Sequester last year in the House Of Representatives, where everyone there voted "Yes or No." With a majority of democrats and a small chunck of Republicans who won in kind-off democratic state districs. The challenge is getting it to that situation though.

Ultimately, I believe it will pass for one simple reason. Republicans do not need the Latino vote to win most local elections but it is vital in future presidential races. If they choose to defeat the bill or they are 'riding it out' to see if the past election was won on a fluke... They are finished. Listen, they don't need 50 percent of the Latino vote, I agree we are mainly democrats, but it is in their best interest to not alienate any Hispanics who would concider voting Republican by doing stuff , like separating Us Citizen filled families, who hate the struggle of their earnest immigrant relatives

I think it will probably pass but it will get ugly in the house and it will probably be around Nov. by the time they vote on it.

Here are some observations.

1) The House "talked" about a pathway to citizenship in 15 years, while in the Senate Bill S.744 is 13 years
2) There is a huge push among Pro-Immigration groups (along with a large public backing)
3) Conservative Groups are using outdated and false data; some GOP House/Senate even shunned their data
4) There is a sea change in the need for reform. Before it mainly addressed undocumented families, but now there is need for High and Low Skilled Workers, and an immigration system that shouldn't take 15-20 years to process an immigrant visa or send back doctors to their home countries after finishing med school.

In my opinion, immigration reform is necessary. And that we must do everything to show how we are productive members of society and we merely seek to integrate further into society.

OMG these threads have got to stop. I can just see how things are going to play out once things don't go the way they're are said to go. Stop speculating, this is just like a gallup poll. FLAWED. MITT ROMNEY WON THE WHITE HOUSE RIGHT?

I think most people stopped caring or assuming CIR will pass. Like I said in another thread, this forum is for bitchin' and moanin' and personal rants like you.

Going back to the OP...I think it makes sense to pass an immigration bill, but more than likely it won't be what we expect. More than likely no citizenship to illegals, and so on and so forth...they have to pass something and claim they 'worked together to make Murica better'...but whatever.

The only thing is that people should NOT be living with the assumption that CIR will pass. Otherwise, they're in for a big disappointment.

this

While a CIR would be obviously good for many of us and our family, most of us with DACA really have stopped caring about it. It was exciting early in the year but now after so many setbacks, many of just not care as before. The mentality of people should really outta be, " If it passes, awesome, if it doesn't oh well, I have DACA and am set for at least 4 years to try to fix my status"

I really stop caring after it went from February, to April and I was like ,"ehh not going to pass anytime soon"
