So basically I realized being able to get a job and actually getting one are two whole different beasts. Since I graduated High school in 2010 I managed to find a job doing maintenance on a farm, fast forward 2013 I wouldn't mind a change of work but suddenly realize I'm years behind other people in experience slimming my already low chances of landing a regular job. I'm sure other people find themselfs in this situation where to go from here? I'm really feeling I'm not getting the most of my work permit at all plus a job with a regular paycheck will make tax filing less of a nightmare than independent contractor filing.

Thanks

go for it. My bf, as a us citizen had never had any work experience until 20, almost 21 and I got him to apply everywhere and he got a job in 2 weeks. he had been looking since before and said it was "hard" finding a job and I showed him it would be if you just apply to 1 or even 3 places. The best way to get a job, regardless of experience is to literally sit on craigslist all day apply to every single job that comes up even if you think youre not qualified or have experiences. do the same but in person, apply like at 10 places in a few days. Have an awesome resume handy, with a picture of you (so they will remember your face) and try and try and try. if you truly do this every day for a month I guarantee you, you will get a job. also remember once you get 1 job you dont have to stay with it for a long time. my bf has changed jobs 2 times since he started. The goal of getting jobs is building experience and always looking to get paid more and more. If you ask a co worker and they said hes only had a $1 increase in 2 years of work , then you have to start planning your eventual exit. The best advice I can give if you have a work permit is : Find A Job That Is Unionized (this means that you will get guaranteed benefits and a yearly or biannually wage increase)

That right there is work experience that you might want to consider putting on an application. It depends really on where you apply for work, but having at least some type of experience is a plus.

I think you'll be able to find something quickly, good luck!

If you graduated from high school in 2010, you are still young. Most employers won't hold a lack of experience against you. As someone said, put the farm experience on your resume, and focus your attention (for now) on jobs related to farm work or even the environment. When you go on interviews explain how your farming experience inspired your interest in the job you're applying for.

Ya never know, you may end up being the greatest farmer in the Western Hemisphere...billions to your name, books and movies made about you, and immortalized in the history books.

Try a temporary agency or staffing agency.

also when making your resume, don't put any work experience if it has nothing to do with what youre applying for it.

Unless that's the only work experience you have then I think you should put it because a lot skills in one job can be transferable to another even when unrelated.

This why you should have volunteered in various places. If you don't have work experience but have volunteering then put that.

I agree that unpaid experience is still experience. I was just pointing out that having non-related work experience I believe is still better than no experience. And not everyone can afford to volunteer or have opportunities to volunteer in their field of study, so they might not have that either.
